Aviemore and the Cairngorms National Park

The Cairngorms National Park is the largest park in the UK and is situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands Five of the UK's six highest mountains lie inside the park, alongside 55 Munros (mountains over 3,000 ft). There are huge forests of ancient native trees, cascading waterfalls, and more wildlife than you can imagine.  It has more mountains, forest paths, rivers, lochs, wildlife hotspots, friendly villages and distilleries than you could explore in just one visit.

Although more people come to ski in the Cairngorms than at any other resort in the UK, it is not just a winter destination.  Spring and summer attract as many, if not more, visitors to the area with a plethora of activities and attractions that cater for everyone.  The spectacular mountain and forest landscape attract the outdoor enthusiasts but there are equally as many things to do for those that are a little less energetic.  Hillwalkers and rock-climbers will never run out of routes to try and there are miles and miles of top-class mountain-bike trails and cross-country skiing trails.  Pony treks, quad biking, whisky tours and tasting, a pottery class, the Stathspey Steam Railway, wildlife spotting (including the Highland Wildlife park and Cairngorm Reindeer Herd) are just a few other activities that you can enjoy here.

Aviemore is one of the largest villages in the Cairngorms National Park area, and the ideal base for exploring and taking part in the many activities available locally.  The smaller villages in the Strath such as Boat of Garten, Nethy Bridge and Carrbridge provide a quieter base but still only a few miles drive from all the action.  Newtonmore and Grantown-on-Spey are larger towns on the edges of the area we cover and allow a wider exploring area to the South and East.   A base in any of these locations will allow a fun filled (or slow paced, relaxing) holiday.

It really is the most beautiful place.  Don't take our word for it though, we're biased.  Come and see for yourself!
